Bicycle Detection and Feedback Device |
摘要: |
This research seeks to: (1) explore how well the alternate designs for feedback confirmation devices with or without
informational signs are understood by the general public; (2) establish quantitative information from the field review about the effect of the confirmation
devices (e.g. bicyclist start-up delay, false start, dismounting, positioning); (3) qualitatively study how the information provided by the confirmation and feedback device
affect the overall cycling experience; and (4) provide guidance to practitioners regarding the use of detection confirmation devices for
bicycles.
This research can help provide guidance to Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) on improving cyclist
accommodation at signalized intersections. The results of this research may also
likely help in improving cyclist safety at signalized intersections by reducing their
risk taking behaviors. Investments in bicycle infrastructure can contribute to the
overall improvements in health for Oregonians. Studies have shown that $1
investment in bicycling can yield $3.40 in health care savings and $100 in benefits, if
the value of life is considered. |
