The goal of this project is to research and model operational performance of urban roads with heterogeneous traffic conditions to improve safety, reliability, and mobility of people and goods.
The objectives of the proposed project are:
(1) to model and evaluate the influence of pedestrians, bicyclists, and public transportation system users (bus and light rail) on safety and mobility of people and goods on urban roads (multimodal perspective);
(2) to collect data and comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of crosswalks, sidewalks, trails, greenways, on-street bicycle lanes, bus / light rail routes and stops / stations, and street network characteristics to enhance connectivity from a multimodal perspective; and
(3) to examine and compare travel time, travel time variations, and crashes on urban roads with homogeneous and heterogeneous traffic conditions. |
