Building Information Modeling (BIM) templates exist generally for all
Architectural Engineering Construction stakeholders, but lacking specificity with regard to typology. A template, meaning a file containing specific modeled database components, has yet to be established for the transportation sector in general, nor particularly the multimodal transportation network. This proposal would develop a fundamental BIM component and assembly library via the template format for future use, ultimately resulting in a multi-modal center design guideline of standards for intra-megaregion travel ease, sustainability and metrics. This template would identify and include networks for private transport, public transport, and other transport services that are part of the multimodal transport system, including the transfer possibilities between these networks. Proposing User Based Scenarios (UBS) would also help solve relevant predicaments of multi-modal transit integration and facilitate further development of a multitude of 3D BIM components for multimodal transport system, such as travel demand modelling, 4D assemblies necessary for transfer nodes, 5D cost implications, 6D schedule design of robust multi-modal time-tables, and 7D operational control of line-bound public transport services. This template can therefore lead to an unconventional approach of spatial analysis that suggests new morphologies for hub buildings, giving this representational tool a direct influence on the conceptual transportation development. |
