摘要：	The purpose of this project is to prepare the 2017 Alabama Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP). The Alabama Department of Transportation has decided to use a bottom up approach to update the SHSP. This approach involves using four regional safety action plans developed during the first phase of the update to inform development of the 2017 AL SHSP. The four regions are: (1) Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments (TARCOG); (2) Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham (RPCGB); (3) Lee Russell Council of Governments (LRCOG); and (4) Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission. This effort will be conducted by a team comprised of the University of Alabama (UA) and Cambridge Systematics. The University Transportation Center for Alabama (UTCA) will lead the project with support from the Center for Advanced Public Safety (CAPS) at UA. Cambridge Systematics will provide technical support and strategic guidance. The objective of the proposed project is to coordinate and facilitate meetings with the statewide SHSP Steering Committee, identify and prioritize Emphasis Areas and strategies for the SHSP, develop and finalize an updated 2017 SHSP, and convene a Statewide Safety Summit.
