Deterioration Modeling of Bridges
项目名称: Deterioration Modeling of Bridges
摘要: Decision making for bridge maintenance, rehabilitation, and replacement can be greatly enhanced using deterioration models that predict the future service performance of major bridge components based on major element type, age, current condition, and traffic (trucks). Historic National Bridge Inventory (NBI) data is available to predict future bridge performance based on those variables. By categorizing Kentucky's bridges into groups and reviewing past NBI performance, clear indications can be obtained of future performance for specific bridges. This information can provide estimates of future bridge needs for planning and in targeting specific bridges for project level actions that will extend the dwell time of bridge components at current condition states. Previous models were developed to predict the durability/deterioration rates of the four condition ratings. These models can be utilized to develop additional models that incorporate cost forecasting to maintain or replace select bridge elements. These models can then be extrapolated to show the most effective allocation of funds at both the project and system levels.
