Application of Microbial Induced Calcite Precipitation to Stabilize Florida High-Organic Matter Soils for Roadway Construction |
摘要: |
Previous positive results with Microbial Induced Calcite Precipitation (MlCP), particularly the Inagaki et al. (2011) data, indicate the technique may be suitable for treating Florida's Organic Content (OC) soils. The project proposes a preliminary study involving a collaborative effort between investigators from the University of North Florida (UNF) and the University of Florida (UF}, to develop a laboratory technique to produce and assess soil improvement using MICP in OC-rich soils. The overall goal of this proposed work is to determine MICP's feasibility as an environmentally friendly and sustainable method for treating Florida 's OC soil for road way construction. Secondary objectives are to: (1) establish a streamlined procedure for creating and testing the properties of MICP-stabilized soils; (2) to determine the optimal procedure/conditions for using microbes to stabilize Florida's OC soils for roadway construction; and (3) recommend guidelines for field test site/applications (i.e. proposed plan for pilot projects). |
