While much progress has been made in raising belt use, targeting the remaining nonusers has posed a challenge. Further understanding these individuals, specifically their attitudes, risk perceptions, and other psychological factors, may prove beneficial for program development and subsequently effective for promoting behavior change. Insight into the psychological make-up and psycho-social patterns of behavior of rare and situational belt users will provide a basis for developing new programs directed at these individuals. The objectives of this project are to determine psychological constructs and psycho-social factors related to belt users and create profiles of user types based on these constructs and demographic factors through a nationally representative survey. The results will yield a more
comprehensive picture of belt user groups that can be transitioned to program
development. |
