Typical concrete crack repair uses chemical sealants or surface treatment agents, which are often expensive and harmful to environment. The goal of the proposed study is to develop an eco-friendly, cost-effective biogrout for concrete crack repair. The study will include three main tasks:biogrout development, concrete crack repair, and crack healing evaluation.
Using industrial waste (e. g., limestone powder) and agricultural byproducts (e. g., egg shells and corn cobs), a soluble calcium will be produced for biocementation of the biogrout. Concrete discs will be cracked with different levels of loading so as to generate various degrees of cracks. The cracked concrete will be repaired with the biogrout through ponding and spraying. The crack-healing effectiveness of the repaired concrete will be examined and the renewed properties of the concrete repaired with the newly developed biogrout are expected. |
