Setting Appropriate Benefit/Condition Jumps for Pavement Treatments in PMS
项目名称: Setting Appropriate Benefit/Condition Jumps for Pavement Treatments in PMS
摘要: Accurate prediction of pavement performance following treatments allows highway agencies to conduct detailed needs and budget analyses. In the North Carolina Department of Transportation Pavement management System (NCDOT PMS), pavement conditions before and after treatment are predicted using the same performance models. This can cause deviations in analyses when a pavements before and after treatment performance are different, which happens to be the case for most of the pavements. This study will be conducted to address this concern. Researchers will obtain pavement distress data from the windshield survey database, develop after-treatment performance curves for different types of treatments using the first year condition data onwards, and establish a relationship between treatment benefit and pavement performance ratings. The after-treatment performance curves, together with the before-treatment performance curves, can expand the engineers capacity to conduct performance analyses for different stages in a pavements service life and help them to make informative investment decisions.
