The Scope of this project is to provide Research Investigation work related to the performance of Pavement Markings in Wet-Weather - Nightime conditions. TASK 1: Project Management: This task will include work associated with the management of the project including: At a minimum, the following Deliverables will be provided: (1) project set up; (2) contracts and invoicing; (3) kick off and progress meetings; and (4) project closeout. TASK 2: Information Search: This task will include the gathering of information to assist Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) in better understanding the key issues, and factors that influence strategy decisions. At a minimum, the Deliverables will be provided: (1) review of UDOT's existing practices, standards, concerns and strategies; (2) literature search of past research; (3) identification of common practices (nationally and internationally); (4) identify common pricing of pavement marking materials, by state agencies to match manufacturers product names/numbers; (5) contact with representatives of governmental agencies, contractors and industry representatives; and (6) identification of emerging technologies. TASK 3: Evaluate and Develop Strategies: This task will include the evaluation of information gathered in the previous task (Information Search) to assist in developing strategies. At a minimum the following deliverables will be provided: (1) organize, review, quantify and summarize information gathered; (2) evaluate information gathered to develop a "Selection Factors and Criteria;" (3) develop a "Wet Weather - Night time Pavement Marking Selection Matrix;" (4) develop goals, potential methods and strategies for additional research. TASK 4: Final Report and Recommendations: This Task will include summarizing the results, developing key recommendations and presenting the results. At a minimum, the following key deliverables will be provided: (1) prepare preliminary results, finding, and recommendations, and review with Technical Advisory Committee (TAC); (2) prepare final report, including writing, quality reviews, and edits; and present findings to TAC. |
