摘要: This report is concerned with the mathematical simulation of the motion of an occupant of a motor vehicle which has been involved in an accident. There are three phases to this simulation project. The first phase is quite similar to the Cornell simulation project, differing only in the methods of obtaining certain quantities and in the number of allowed body contacts with the vehicle interior. An Highway Safety Research Institute computer program is currently being used to generate results which are being compared with results from the Cornell program. The second phase is the main concern of this report. This new model includes all changes and improvements of the earlier model which can be made without increasing the number of degrees of freedom of the system. The vehicle is equipped with a restraint system. The motion considered occurs only in the forward vertical plane (i.e. in two dimensions) as a result of either forward acceleration (say from a rear-end collision) or deceleration from a front-end collision or sudden stop. A rear-seat passenger and injury potential are considered in this model. It has not yet been programmed for the digital computer but algorithms for doing so are laid out in this report.
