摘要: All persons who legally enter the United States must do so through a designated port of entry (POE). The Immigration and Naturalization Service's (INS) Inspections Program is charged with inspecting all travelers at POEs to ensure that they may enter the United States. Typically, inspections at air POEs consist of a primary inspection, the focus of this audit, and, when required, a secondary inspection. These inspections are critically important in protecting the nation's borders from terrorists, illegal entries, alien smugglers, and other illegal activities.
