摘要: The goal of this effort was to improve rail security over trade lanes, e.g., transport from Mexico to an inland port at Kansas City. This effort focused on transporter identification, sensing, real-time monitoring and tracking, safety and compliance, and integration of local, state, and federal information. We focused on transiting from the current centralized model to a distributed one. The distributed model is based on making transported objects (e.g., containers, pallets, and boxes) active agents in their own security. The effort leveraged the application of effective container sealing using advanced RFID technologies, sensing, application of new radio technologies, and information management. Evaluation prototypes were built and deployed and new distributed sensor algorithms were developed.
