Despite price cuts in eight out of the past 11 months, the trucking industry's average annual inflation rate stood at 11.1% in April 2023. Still, that's down from a 21.2% rate in September 2022. So, logistics managers who buy trucking services are likely seeing some relief from stubbornly high prices. But for how long? Cost inflation in the industry continues running faster than price. Trucking companies must deal with the downward pressure on margins by cutting costs. Luckily, in the first quarter of 2023, the industry managed to register a 3.9% drop in processing costs compared to a year ago. Materials and warehousing inflation rates, however, remain rather high. |
