摘要：	The BC Interior Section of ITE in British Columbia, Canada recently became a Section in 2018. The group has been building support and working with the Canadian District of ITE (ITE Canada) and other ITE entities to grow membership and develop creative, engaging programming to impart technical knowledge for all types of transportation professionals. The Section started as a Chapter of the Greater Vancouver Section, which was the first Section Chapter inside ITE Canada. This was because there was a strong group of transportation professionals outside of Vancouver Island and Metro Vancouver areas of BC. Although Metro Vancouver area is mostly urban with a mild climate, the province of British Columbia (BC) is vast and covers 364,764 square miles (587,030 square kilometers). Many municipalities in BC are small or medium-sized, and have transportation professionals who meet the needs of these municipalities. By becoming its own Section, BC Interior was able to better focus on and share ideas related to transportation engineering and planning that are specific to these communities, which are largely outside of urban areas and have harsher climates.
