| 摘要： | ITE JOURNAL: You've helped put together so many guidebooks that are considered standard within the industry. How do you approach writing about best practices? What is that process like and what do you enjoy about it? RYUS: Every guidebook is a group effort. In some cases, team members are responsible for writing specific chapters or sections. My role for those guidebooks includes organizing the content before writing begins and performing technical editing afterwards, such as checking technical accuracy, providing a consistent voice, and ensuring consistent use of terminology. With other guidebooks, team members prepare background material, such as a literature review and agency interviews. My job is to familiarize myself with the material and then write about it. No matter how a guidebook is developed, it's important that the text, graphics, and other content work together so that readers new to the topic can follow along and learn what they need to apply the information to their own work. I enjoy that aspect of the process, because explaining how to do something to others requires that one become deeply familiar with the topic. As a result, I always learn something new while working on a guidebook. In addition, these projects let me incorporate creative interests such as writing and photography into the more analytical and process-oriented guidebook content. |
