ITE recently learned of the passing of the following members. We recognize them for their contributions to ITE and the profession, and send condolences to their families.
Ken Courage, P.Eng. of New Smyrna Beach, FL, USA passed away on December 4, 2021. He was a Fellow and Life Member of ITE. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on December 31,1939, he earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Manitoba in 1962, and first worked as a traffic signals engineer. Ken earned his M.S. in Civil Engineering in 1968 from Texas A&M University and worked as an assistant research engineer with the Texas Transportation Institute. After a stint at the Kelly Scientific Corporation in Washington, DC, USA, he became faculty at the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Florida where he ultimately retired in 2007 as Emeritus Professor. Ken's service to ITE included serving as an ITE Journal peer reviewer and being on the Transportation Developers Task Force. He was very active in the ITE's District 10 and the (then) Florida Puerto Rico Section, and served a term as President. He received the ITE Traffic Engineering Council Award in 1995, the Sherwood H. Hiller Distinguished Service Award from ITE District 10 in 1991, and the ITE Past President's Award in 1973.
