| 摘要： | Elana S.A., of Torun Poland, is the only manufacturer of polyester fiber, and the largest manufacturer of polyester polymers in Poland. Major modernization investments in central energy plant equipment is needed to assure continuous and reliable production at the Elana facility. Additionally, Poland's entry into the European Union requires investment for the purpose of compliance with the environmental regulations. The Elana manufacturing complex is served by two energy centers, one built in the 1960's utilizing coal designated as Energy Center 1, and the other built in the 1970's utilizing oil and designated as Energy Center 2. These plants provide steam, hot water and electric power to the site. Supplemental electric power is imported to the site from the outside utility power grid. In order to develop a practical plan to modernize the central energy plant in the most practical and cost effective manner, a feasibility study was conducted. This study received funding from the United States Trade Development Agency, and examined several options for modernization, with completion and selection of the course of action completed in May of 2003. |
