The summer board meeting in Indianapolis, Ind., was a great success! Most people were not familiar with this city, and I received many compliments about the Bottleworks Hotel and Mass Ave Cultural Arts District. The group is definitely looking forward to coming back to Indianapolis in two years for the 2025 PCI Convention at The Precast Show. The meetings and conversation were quite impressive. Progress continues to be on track for ACI/PCI 319 Precast Structural Concrete Code. Demand is already presenting itself for materials preparing to be released for the engineering professors, a balanced budget, and potential marketing collaboration between PCI and other national organizations on carbon. At the board meeting, we had the honor of approving 10 names for this decade's PCI Titans. All of the nominees have made significant contributions over their careers. As I was reflecting on the new PCI Titans, I started thinking about the chairs directly before me-J. Seroky, Dennis Fink, and Matt DeVoss. All are incredible team players who provided clear direction and accomplished significant improvements during each of their tenures as chair. Feeling nostalgic at the board dinner, I looked around the room and saw a few people who did not have gray hair. Those people are the next generation, and one of them happened to be Dennis Fink's son, Evan Fink. It is poetic that I miss working with Dennis Fink on the regular, but see the future in Evan Fink. |
