This report is the Department of Health and Human Service fiscal year 2004 annual report on the Department's performance in meeting the alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) acquisition requirements of the Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPAct) and Executive Order 13149 (E.O. 13149). This report was developed in accordance with EPAct ( 42 U.S.C. 13211-13219) as amended by the Energy Conservation Reauthorization Act of 1998 (Public Law 105-388), and in accordance with E.O. 13149, signed April 2000. EPAct requires that in fiscal year (FY) 1999 and beyond, 75 percent of all covered vehicle acquisitions by Federal agencies must be AFVs. E.O. 13149 sets a goal for covered Federal agencies to reduce petroleum consumption by FY 2006, requiring agencies to increase alternative fuel use in AFVs and increase the fuel economy of light-duty vehicle acquisitions. Exhibit 1 summarizes the Department's performance in meeting these requirements. |
