WHILE ATTENDING THE COUNCIL OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONALS (CSCMP) EDGE conference in Orlando last month, a few distinct, yet somewhat parallel thoughts came to mind. One was that the conference felt as if we've fully rebounded from the depths of the pandemic. The halls were fairly crowded with attendees catching up and reconnecting, which is one of the best parts of a conference such as CSCMP. So, while conference halls are back to pre-pandemic levels and there's a feeling of normalcy in the air, that leads to the second parallel thought: While things have returned to a more traditional cadence, where does the supply chain fit in? It has always "fit in," given its major role in moving freight from point A to point B, but, for the first time in what feels like a very long time, it seems like the supply chain isn't receiving all the blame for the economy's problems as it did during the pandemic. |
