摘要：	As the TPCB marks its 25th anniversary, we celebrate the important impact it has had on the transportation profession while looking forward to opportunities to grow and enhance its programs. Through its three certification programs in the fields of transportation operations, transportation planning, and roadway safety, theTPCB has provided both organizations and practicing professionals with the ability to recognize those who have demonstrated their knowledge in these respective fields. As with other professional licensure and certification programs, theTPCB helps to enhance public safety and welfare by providing assurance that the certification holder possesses the knowledge, skills, and abilities reguired to provide services to the public at a professional level. The three certification programs are at different points in their evolution with different futures ahead.The PTOE has gained broad acceptance in the profession; the PTP is still finding its place, but receiving increased attention as ITE more strongly embraces planning professionals; and the RSP is still emerging, but rapidly moving toward widespread recognition as the premier roadway safety credential. With a strong financial footing, committed volunteer leadership, and strong professional staff support, the TPCB is well-positioned to continue to grow and support its existing certifications while looking for opportunities to serve the transportation profession in new or emerging fields.
