When Motorola decided to sell its 300-acre headquarters campus, the Village of Schaumburg, IL, USA recognized the unique opportunity to develop a new district that will offer a walkable, vibrant, and mixed-use place to live, work, and play in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. The Village adopted new 90N District framework plans that outlined the land uses and infrastructure needed to support this new mixed-use center. From a land planning perspective, the 90N District East and West framework plans established a clear and consistent set of zoning codes and design guidelines to ensure that the actual build out of the 90N District is consistent with the village's goals. However, the framework plans were silent on how Meacham Road, which runs through the middle of the 90N District, would be incorporated into the development plans. |
