| 摘要： | Any intersection that requires a visual signal for pedestrians also requires an audible/tactile signal for pedestrians with limited vision and hearing. Intersection design features that can make intersections safer for sighted pedestrians, like Leading Pedestrian Intervals (LPIs), channelized turn lanes, and roundabouts, can actually make crossings more dangerous for pedestrians with vision loss. Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) are the answer - and the imminent Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG) are about to mandate them by law at every crossing with a pedestrian signal. Since 1998, Polara has been a pioneer and advocate for APS.
