Being intentional about creating diverse teams and fostering a culture of inclusivity is critical for transportation agencies and firms to excel in a rapidly evolving marketplace. Leaders and decision-makers in the transportation industry can ask themselves two critical questions: How can we do better? How can we do more? Those were the questions we asked ourselves as WSP employees after the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor during the social unrest in 2020. A group of WSP staff members came together organically to do more around equity, galvanized by the calls for social justice and wanting to translate that into action at the project level. |
