| 摘要： | As a part of a larger and ongoing effort to preserve wildlife and fish populations, wildlife and fish habitats, and shorelines on the Detroit River, The Friends of the Detroit River and its partners the US Environmental Protection Agency and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration worked to organize the restoration of 4 areas of concern located around the much larger island of Grosse Ile, MI. Stoney Island, Celeron Island, Sugar Island, and Hennepin Marsh restorations include wildlife and fish habitats, shoreline protection and rebuilding existing erosion control structures. Sugar Island and Hennepin Island work is still in progress. E.C. Korneffel was awarded the restoration projects. E.C. Korneffel Co. is a Marine, Bridge, and Piling Contractor located in Trenton, Michigan and has been providing their services since 1950. The ECK crew barged stone from a nearby staging area to the site then placed the stone with a CAT 336 excavator outfitted with Clam Vision marine construction software. Hennessey Engineers provided on site layout and QAQC checks. Engineering for Stoney Island, Celeron Island and Hennepin Marsh was performed by Environmental Consulting and Technology. Sugar Island had its engineering done by SmithGroup. The first island to receive improvements was Stoney Island. |
