HAROPA PORT | Rouen manages a land area of almost 3,800 ha from the upstream port "Port Amont" until the quays of Honfleur. Two thirds of this vast area is made up of sites with a natural vocation, including certain sections of the banks of the Seine. These banks are subject to tidal range (tide) and wave action (waves caused by shipping), and therefore to nautical constraints that affect their stability. The Port of Rouen regularly undertakes consolidation, repair or re-profiling work on the banks. This is an important issue, especially when it comes to ensuring the protection of people and property. The worksites can also be devoted to hydraulic connections or reconnections with the river, but also to the restoration of wetlands and the vegetation of the banks. The port establishment is also involved in clean-up operations by collecting waste washed up on the banks of the river. |
