Logistics and transportation is in the news like never before. There are bottlenecks at almost even' critical point ol a shipment's journey from point of manufacture to final-mile delivery. Shipping containers are in short supply. If you can get your product into a container, available space on a ship is limited and must be booked weeks, and sometimes months, in advance. There is congestion at the ports, slowing down unloading. And, if you get your container off of a ship, there's a shortage of trucks and truck drivers to get them to a distribution center. What if there was an alternative route from the port of entry to an inland container distribution point? One that avoided the over-loaded ports on the West Coast and significantly reduced the amount of truck travel? And one that presents an opportunity for some companies-not all companies-to gain a competitive advantage by creating a new network that better matches logistics needs with all available transportation modes. |
