摘要: Amid a transportation revolution accelerated by climate change and population growth, Helsinki is the city best prepared for the future of urban mobility, according to a new assessment. The Finnish capitals large investments in electric vehicle infrastructure, an advanced cycling network and a burgeoning public transit network earned it the top spot in a ranking of 65 global cities by the Oliver Wyman Forum, the consulting firms social action arm, and the University of California, Berkeley. The analysis considers dozens of factors-from commute time and road safety to walkability and innovation-in an attempt to capture how well people and goods can move through a city and to surrounding population centers. The U.S. Department of Transportations (USDOT) Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recently announced $110 million in grants for 19 wildlife crossing projects in 17 states, including four Indian Tribes. The funding is made possible by a new program in President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and can support projects that construct wildlife crossings over and below busy roads, add fencing, acquire tracking and mapping tools, and more. Overall, BIL makes a total of $350 million available over 5 years under the Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program.
