| 摘要： | ITE JOURNAL: Previously you worked as a consultant and graduate research assistant on different transportation projects. How do you think this work prepared you for your role now at ITE? ASHRAF AHMED: Before joining ITE, I worked as a traffic services specialist (Traffic Operations, Jacobs) for Florida's Turnpike. I was responsible for traffic design, plan reviews, and implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems as well as emerging technology to ensure traffic safety for day-to-day traffic operations. I also worked as a research assistant for a project funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation at Florida International University (FIU) to enhance the resiliency of the transportation network. Finally, I served as an Entrepreneurial Lead for a National Science Foundation-funded project to commercialize my research. From these experiences, I developed myself as an enthusiastic and independent transportation engineer eager to contribute to the transportation technology industry. I strongly believe that the synergy of technology and transportation will enhance a safe and sustainable transportation system for future generations. ITEJ: What do you hope to gain from your role at ITE, learning more about transportation and working with members? AHMED: Working with ITE is always a great experience, as I was involved with FIU ITE-Student Chapter while pursuing my graduate studies. I hope that now, as a Transportation Technology Project Specialist, I will get the opportunity to learn about new technologies and grow professionally and personally. Furthermore, as the whole transportation industry collaborates with ITE, it will also be an excellent platform for networking with practitioners from both industry and academia. |
