| 摘要： | This report estimates the average total cost of a commercial vehicle roadside inspection. It is an updated and expanded version of a cost estimate produced by FMCSA staff in 2003. It includes both weighted and unweighted cost estimates for the various components of a roadside inspection. The weighting applies to enforcement costs and is based on the number of roadside inspections conducted and the number of active safety inspectors in each State. The enforcing agency's total cost for conducting these roadside inspections is $30.52 ($32.78 unweighted) per inspection. The total cost to the motor carrier is approximately $47.76. Thus the total cost per inspection is approximately $78.28 ($80.54 unweighted). Given the current number of roadside inspections and the current number of safety inspectors, an additional roadside inspection would cost the enforcing agency approximately $23.06 ($24.68 unweighted). |
