This report presents the results of our assessment of the Department of Transportations (DOT) implementation of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, which designated over $48 billion for new and existing DOT programs. Both the President and Congress have emphasized the need for full accountability, efficiency, and transparency in the allocation and expenditure of ARRA funds and recognized the importance of the accountability community in accomplishing these objectives. The Office of Inspector Generals (OIG) role is to assist DOT officials in their efforts to implement ARRA by identifying areas that need strengthening and making recommendations for program improvements. |
