As a repair industry, we have seen several emerging technical service bulletins and cover stories focusing on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on passenger vehicles. As the industry still tries to grasp what has been estimated as a $35 billion dollar market, many heavy-duty manufacturers are entering the ADAS market. The increase in government regulations and incentives to manufacturers for advanced sensing systems are two key factors driving the recent growth of ADAS in heavy-duty vehicles. ADAS features, along with TPMS (tire pressure monitoring systems), are a growing trend for fleet management companies. Many large fleets not only have a radar-based system to assist in braking, but forward-facing cameras are also a growing trend to warn, correct or even center the vehicle in the traveling lane. |
