摘要: Research into the characteristics of complex microprocessors and systems-on-a-chip revealed increasing difficulties in design assurance of airborne systems containing these commercial off-the-shelf devices. This was found to require system-level methods, including monitoring, fault or anomaly detection, and corrective actions based on resilient system architectures and system controls. This approach is accumulatively identified as safety nets. Phase 4 initiated the evaluation of simulation and test tools to aid in the safety net approach. It was determined that safety nets must be involved at multiple levels with aircraft systems. Phase 5 will further research the device characteristics and the safety net approach. A Federal Aviation Administration Handbook for the selection and verification of systems using these devices was planned in Phase 4 and will be implemented with the results from Phase 5. / Title Note: Final rept. / Supplementary Notes: See also PB2010-103425, Phase 3 Report.
