| 摘要： | Current Coast Guard guidance on inspection and repair of lifesaving equipment is contained in earlier NVICs (e.g., NVIC 2-63, Guide for Inspection and Repair of Lifesaving Equipment), the Marine Safety Manual, and Title 46, Subchapter W in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Over the years lifesaving equipment has become more sophisticated in order to provide increased capabilities, and to be able to better deal with different possible types of shipboard casualties. This is readily apparent in modern totally enclosed lifeboats, rescue boats, and lifeboat on-load release gear. While this equipment provides greater functionality, it also has become more complex, and consequently more difficult and critical to maintain properly. As a result, numerous accidents involving this equipment, some resulting in fatalities, have been reported worldwide in recent years, most due to operator error or to faulty maintenance. / Availability Note: Product reproduced from digital image.
