| 摘要： | At the Highways Awards this month some wag asked the audience if, in the event of a change of government, they could please remain seated until the interval -'not to be polite, just to make sure this one sticks'. Sure enough, the next day Liz Truss resigned and became the shortest-serving prime minister in UK history. Her replacement, Rishi Sunak, has also made history, as the first British Asian to become UK prime minister. The whiplash change from one miserable historical record to a truly inspiring one encapsulates some of what this country has been through in recent times. This is why we took such pleasure in celebrating with the sector at the Highways Awards - during challenging times it is more important than ever to remember what we are capable of, regardless of the political turmoil around us. |
