When the ALARM survey was first launched more than two decades ago, its main objective was to take a snapshot of the local road network to highlight the connection between local authority road maintenance funding and the condition of Local roads, and this still holds true today. Now in its 27th year, the independently-assessed report is based on both qualitative and quantitative data received from those responsible for local road maintenance. This is why the ALARM survey is considered to be such a valuable and reliable source of information and we are grateful to the local authority highway teams who support us by participating. This year they did so in record numbers, with the response rate for ALARM 2022 from English local authorities at 81%. Overall, across England, London and Wales, it was at 73%. |
