| 摘要： | In October 2021, Oxfordshire CC endorsed proposals to radically transform the speed at which traffic moved through our urban areas. During lockdown there was a palpable desire to improve the places where we lived, to reduce pollution and traffic noise and to make our roads safer and more inviting places to walk and cycle. We decided to act.Our council set aside £8m so that any parish or town council in the county could adopt a legally enforceable 20mph zone for free. We are even looking at plans to complete the whole of Oxford City as a 20mph city.We want 20mph to become the new 30mph in Oxfordshire, creating a safer pace and a safer place. If we can get to the point where the default expectation of drivers is that they are in a 20mph zone, unless there's a sign to tell them otherwise, we believe that will significantly change behaviour and make our roads safer. |
