Colas has won a £328m deal with National Highways to maintain roads across the Area 9 region covering the West Midlands. The French company replaces Kier and the new contract will start in July and run for eight years.Kier has been working on a three-year asset support contract, which was awarded in 2018, but the deal awarded to Colas will be a new asset delivery model. This will involve National Highways taking direct control of asset management, maintenance and other services.Andrew Jinks, regional operations director for the Midlands at National Highways, said: 'By working more closely with our supply chain partners on routine maintenance, repairs and incident response, we're able to work more effectively, identifying innovative ways of working and provide the best possible quality of service to road users.' |
