A trio of contractors have landed places on a framework for the South Wales Trunk Road Agent (SWTRA) that is expected to produce spending of £240m over the next four years. Tarmac Trading, Bridgend-based Centregreat and Alun Griffiths will carry out work in the SWTRA's western, central and eastern regions respectively. Each of the three lots is expected to be worth £80m over the next four years. The awards are a double success for Tarmac, as in 2018 it completed the acquisition of Alun Griffiths. The ultimate owner of both companies is materials giant, CRH. The framework was procured by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council on behalf of the SWTRA, which is responsible for managing, maintaining and improving a 900km network of trunk roads and motorways in South Wales for the Welsh Government. |
