Galliford Try topped the quarterly table after landing a £255m deal to carry out a major programme of improvements around Junction 10 of the M5 at Coombe Hill in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, for the county council. The firm edged out Tarmac, which enjoyed a host of successes in the second quarter of this year. Tarmac beat off bids from the likes of AE Yates and Dowhigh to land a £110m highways framework with the borough councils in Halton and Warrington. It was favourite to win, having signed a £70m highways contract with the two councils a decade ago. JB Riney, a Tarmac subsidiary, also landed a £110m term maintenance deal with the City of London, extending a relationship that began more than a decade ago as well. Tarmac also secured places on the two biggest multi- contractor frameworks that were awarded during the three months to June 2023. |
