| 摘要： | The sector and wider society owe a massive thank you to the entire team behind the new Road Safety Investigation Branch (RSIB). There can be little doubt that this move will save many, many lives. You cannot have prevention without a true understanding of cause and while the safe systems approach is right to point out the inherent risk of driving, it also needs to be said that each one of the roughly 1,750 deaths on our roads every year is an absolute tragedy. We must do everything in our power to prevent every one of them. The RSIB not only places us on the same footing as other transport sectors, it not only gives us a pool of investigators from different backgrounds with access to data from different sources to tackle road crashes at the most detailed, granular level, but also it will serve as a constant reminder that these horrific statistics should never be seen as 'normal' or the price of doing business. |
