Stepping in to provide the opening keynote speech following a ministerial diary clash, Stuart Greig, director low carbon economy at Transport Scotland, told visitors that the Scottish Government's Mission Zero for transport is not just about getting carbon out of the transport system, but also getting the maximum benefits into the economy. Much of this process involves pulling forward what is referred to as the S curve - a classic way of visualizing how innovation takes place in the economy. He said: 'Traditionally this has been quite a slow process, but now there is consensus that the traditional trajectory for getting new technologies and innovation seeded and planted into the economy, needs to move forward. Anyone who owns assets or is involved in assets or have roads or depots, there's just huge opportunities here.' |
