| 摘要： | With winter now here, it's more important than ever to do all we can to reduce risks for road users and develop safer carriageways for all forms of transport, from horses to bicycles, motorbikes to cars. Everyone, including local authorities and utilities, has a duty of care towards all of us who use the roads. Access covers in the carriageway can become slippery overtime, their raised patterns worn by decades of traffic, sometimes leaving a polished slippery surface. While the safety data rarely identifies slippery utility covers as a contributory factor in road crashes, specific investigations dating back a number of years ago in the Bristol area suggested they may have played a part in a number of serious and fatal crashes involving motorcyclists over the years. |
