摘要：	The government has pledged to spend £20m to fund improvements to roadside facilities used by HGV drivers. Funds will be spent on upgrades to security, lighting and shower rooms as part of a major overhaul of driver facilities. Improvements to working conditions have been identified as a key area for the government as it bids to limit the effects of the driver shortage in the UK. Overall, the government has guaranteed funds of up to £52.5m to invest in driver facilities. Roads Minister Baroness Vere said: "HGV drivers play a key role in keeping our nation running and contributing to the economy, and it is vital they feel safe and comfortable wherever they stop. That's why we're allocating £20 million to ramp up security and improve amenities for drivers -building on the raft of measures we've already taken to support the industry. We'll continue to work closely with the sector to boost professional driver numbers even further."
