| 摘要： | The IRTE Skills Challenge is a competition that has a strong grasp on this industry and continues to push the boundaries of technical engineering. The SOE, through each of its professional sectors, is perfectly placed to support the apprentices and technicians in the bus and coach sectors as they face the technical and technological challenges that the future brings. This competition brings together people from all corners of the industry to share good ideas and best practice - very much indicative of how the SOE represents a spectrum of engineers across our professional sectors. I would like to express the Society's gratitude to everyone at the Awards for their continued support and I hope to see you all again next year. DVSA's mission is to keep everyone safe on Britain's roads and safety on the roads starts with vehicles that are maintained by competent engineers. That's why supporting competitions such as the IRTE Skills Challenge is so fundamental to providing new bus and coach talent and delivering on our mission. When I took the role at DVSA in 2021,I pledged to work closely with this industry to help it recover from the pandemic and that meant communicating with industry representatives at every level. So, in June, I visited the IRTE Skills Challenge testing week for the first time. It gave me the opportunity to speak with apprentices and technicians - some in the early stages of their careers, others more advanced - about their jobs and where their futures lie, as well as operators and sponsors. I was greatly encouraged by the collaborative efforts being made to shine a light on a part of the industry that is not so often seen. Long may it continue. |
