The dealer, in concert with City of Liverpool College, hopes the new programe will result in a City & Guilds Level 3 Transport Refrigeration qualification. Talks have been held with the Institute for Apprenticeships, and while details have yet to be finalised, MFS aims to launch the scheme in 2023. As things stand, its apprentices undergo a three-year programme in conjunction with the college leading to a City & Guilds Level 3 Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Engineering qualification. The problem with the current scheme, however, is that, while undoubtedly valuable, it does not truly mirror the job the apprentices will eventually be doing, says Mick Ward, MFS's head of regions and installations. "It's really designed for static rather than mobile systems," he observes. |
