| 摘要： | Q I have a busy work and home life. Although I like being an IRTE member, it's hard to see how I can fit in any other responsibilities. Why should I volunteer for the IRTE? IRTE's parent organisation SOE is a charitable membership organisation, made up of like-minded engineers across a number of disciplines. The organisation is actually run by volunteers at all levels, giving expert advice in many areas associated with the trade they represent. Putting something back by volunteering could help others working in industry, perhaps a fellow member. For example, some working groups help ensure safe working practices for the benefit of the industry and the general public by reviewing and contributing to best practice guides. These working groups are made up not only of people that are on the Council, but also other members. Part of the satisfaction of volunteering is meeting new people. Also, rubbing shoulders with senior engineers within the industry also contributes to career advancement, partly through continued professional development. |
