Stuart Render's article about Leeds City Transport timetables (Buses February) has reminded Peter Snowden that Crosville Motor Services also was capable of manipulating the bus images on the covers. These two from 1948 and 1949/50 are of historical interest as they span the period before and after the Thomas Tilling company sold its bus interests to the state-owned British Transport Commission, prompting a relocation of the 6d price (about 91p today) to where the Tilling logo was displayed. The English spelling of Welsh placenames - like Dolgelley for Dolgellau, Caernarvon for Caernarfon - also places it in earlier times. |
