As usual I was interested in the 'Millar's Tales' in the December 2021 edition of Buses. Like Mrs M. and Alan, my wife and I are also fans of 'You Say' with the Culture Section of the Sunday Times. I believe that the 'Routemaster Moments' were started by the use of a Routemaster in an episode of 'Foyles' War' which was set in 1946. The episode of 'Endeavour' in which Routemasters had an important role was no doubt because of the pandemic. However, the matter of the conductor having a badge with different Traffic Area on it is not so unusual. When I passed my PSV driver's test at Colchester in 1968 I was issued with a North Western Traffic Area badge (CC) and not an Eastern one because my address was still St. Aidan's College, Birkenhead. This was the cause of much interest at the Eastern National Clacton Garage where I worked for that Summer. |
